The OBDPro Serial scan tool will work with 1996 and newer vehicles that support the OBD-II protocols listed below (all 1996 and newer cars are required to support one of the below listed protocols)

  • J1850 PWM  (Generally Ford vehicles manufactured between 1996-2005)
  • J1850 VPW  (Most GM & some Chrysler vehicles manufactured between 1996-2005)
  • ISO9141-2  (Most imports)
  • ISO14230-4 (KWP2000)  (GM Saturn and some imports)
  • ISO15765-4 (CAN)   (Almost all vehicles manufactured after 2005)

The OBDPro USB interface measures 1 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 3/4" and is built for use around the workshop.
This unit is compatible with the ELM327 chipset commands but it goes further than the ELM327 in some cases. For example it has a double buffered messaging system so that it can keep up with heavy OBD traffic.
It also supports variable baud rates from 9600 to 128000 BPS.

The ObdPro scantool comes complete with all the cables and software that you need to get started. All you need to provide is a laptop with a free USB port.

The OBD Serial device has the same capabilities as the above USB device, just that it is connected to the computer by standard Rs-232 serial instead of USB.
