LCD CONSTRUCTION
LCD CHASSIS
The main part of the mounting of the CarPC is taken care of by a custom built, machined aluminium chassis. This was supplied by Mechatroniks.
The following slides shows the various components of this chassis and how it is constructed and built up. Click HERE to view LCD Chassis slide show.
In order to mount the chassis in the vehicle after the stock radio is
removed, you will have to remove the left and brackets fitted to the stock
radio. If these are not present, then the are available from Subaru
and their part numbers are:
66201FC000
- Right Radio Bracket
66201FC010
- Left Radio Bracket
LCD PANEL MOUNTING
The LCD touchscreen used in this build is the
LinITX 7" Plus VGA Touchscreen LCD. The panel is an Hitachi and is
therefore the same LCD panel as used by Lilliput. The only extra work
required was to make a fixing plate for the mounting of the controller PCBs
which are normally fixed to the rear plastic housing which forms the LinITX
module.
The chassis supplied by Mechatroniks was the platform and all the PCBs from the LinITX display were mounted on a PCB fibreglass board. Once it was all put together it looks like this.
EXTRA PARTS
During the taking apart of some of the dash etc, it is inevitable that some bits will get lost or broken, particularly small screws and fixing clips. I have listed below a selection of part numbers which may come in handy !
